The new AC Santiago de los Caballeros by Marriott hotel is located in one of the most spectacular areas of the Dominican Republic, the second most important city in the country.
A modern and cosmopolitan city that stands as a cultural and industrial centre; characteristics that we took into account when carrying out this project.
For this interior design project we focused on following a philosophy marked by elegance, simplicity, intention and art. We started from the essence of the hotel’s location, its economy is based on the sugar cane and tobacco plantations; both with a very marked colour palette that we wanted to transfer to the interior design project itself.
Dark oak combined with light textiles and copper details are the essence of the hotel lobby. This combination creates a very welcoming atmosphere for the guest and we also added decoration and elements of local craftsmanship.
For the rooms we continued the guidelines of colourimetry and use of materials, in order to make the whole project feel unified and connected.
We also developed the project for the rooftop, the restaurant and the bathing area, as the hotel has a rooftop swimming pool. We wanted the furniture used to connect with the environment, so we used a palette of earthy colours and natural-looking contract materials.
